The Easter season is upon us. What does this mean to you? For me I often find myself embracing the wonderful worship service of Easter. I love hearing the Alleluia Chorus and singing the familiar hymns and having that wonderful feeling of Christ resurrected. But when the choir has left, when everybody leaves the building and I lock up a few doors, I leave the church and drive home, I can’t help but wonder have I changed? I go home and prepare Easter dinner with friends and love the feeling I have of being given a fresh slate. A new beginning…. but after that I go on with my busy life. Which causes me to ask myself….has the Lenten season leading up to Easter even changed me? How am I being moved in Christ Resurrected?
If we think about the gospels 3 of the 4 mention taking some form of action. Go and tell, feed my sheep, walk along this road and share. We are called to do these things. So what does “Go and Tell” look like? What does “feed my sheep” mean? Whose sheep? And what does walking down a road with a companion tell me about Jesus?
What strikes me as incredible is none of these passages have a handbook that goes with them. Yes there are letters to read from Paul that help guide us, there are lessons from Jesus to point us the way but not a for sure 100% way of leading others to Christ. These passages demonstrate to us the many ways God is at work in and amongst us. As we look and seek God be ready to see just where he is calling you. And then ask yourself am I being moved to a new beginning in my life? How am I being moved in Christ Resurrected? Who are the people to be included in this?
It might be that God is telling us to look close to home and show his love to those who live around us, work with us, and worship with us.
So this Easter season ask yourself “How is God moving me to a new beginning?”.
